A night in the old museum
Last winter our class went on a school trip to an old museum. It was a ghost story, an adventure story and a detective story all in one evening!
We were looking at an old map when suddenly the lights went out. Kamol laughed at Malika's scream, but Malika was worried about her phone — she couldn't find it. 'Don't move!' said our teacher, and we all waited for the lights to come on.
In the distance we saw a white shape. It moved, then it disappeared. 'It's a ghost!' somebody shouted. Aziz fell over a chair because he was running in the dark.
In the end, the lights came on. The 'ghost' was the museum guard in a white coat — he was looking for Malika's phone! It was a funny and a little strange night. Now I'm writing the first draft of the story, with direct speech and a title.
Savollar: 1. What were the students doing when the lights went out? · 2. What was Malika worried about? · 3. Why did Aziz fall over? · 4. Who was the 'ghost'? · 5. Find one example of direct speech in the text.
